Dr. Safia El-Kabbani, former Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Helwan University, stated today, Sunday, in an exclusive statement to "Youm7": "I recently designed and executed the Corniche mural in Damietta as part of a city beautification plan, in cooperation with the Governor of Damietta, Dr. Manal Awad, on the occasion of the governorate's National Day.".

Dr. Safia El-Kabbani, former Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Helwan University, added: "I executed the mural for Damietta Governorate, which is currently on display to celebrate the governorate's National Day. Dr. Manal Awad, the Governor of Damietta, is a truly wonderful lady—highly capable and exceptionally strong-willed. The mural was created using mosaic materials, forming an artistic masterpiece made of vibrant and attractively colored tesserae.".

Dr. Safia El-Kabbani, former Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Helwan University, emphasized: “I execute my artworks using mosaic materials (the art of mosaic), and this new piece required great patience and precision.” She further explained her delight in presenting this artwork through mosaic art—a unique artistic style that utilizes various colors and sizes of stones and other materials..

It is worth mentioning that artist Safia El-Kabbani is a graduate of the Painting Department at the Faculty of Fine Arts. She was a student of the great artist Zakaria El-Ziny, whom she admired for both his art and his humanity, describing him as a school of mural art. Dr. Safia El-Kabbani presents her new works through "Mural Art," where her new compositions breathe life into the murals..

It is also worth noting that Damietta Governorate celebrates its National Day on May 8th, commemorating the victory of the people of Damietta over the Crusade at the village of Mit El-Khouli. The people of Damietta have an honorable national history; when Louis IX, leader of the Crusade, arrived at the shores of Damietta with his army on June 4, 1249 AD, the locals burned everything that could benefit the occupiers. Resistance continued until the final encounter with the French army in the Battle of Faraskur.

Louis IX was captured in the village of Mit El-Khouli Abdullah and transferred to prison at Dar Ibn Luqman in Mansoura. On May 8, 1250, the Crusade evacuated Damietta. Consequently, the governorate designated May 8th as its National Day, celebrated annually to commemorate the righteous martyrs who sacrificed their lives in defense of the homeland.
